How to Book a Band for a Wedding
When booking a band for wedding festivities, you need to be sure to discuss what tye of music you want to be played, how many guests will be there and what your budget is. A general rule is to try to book the band 1 to 3 months in advance. You could work with a talent agency, who can save you time because they will have access to more musicians than you do and they can save you money by negotiating with the band on your behalf.
Even if you decide to find an act on your own, be sure to negotiate with them. You may able to book them at a good rate if you offer to place a tip jar at the reception hall. Then you don’t have to come up with so much up front, but they can get a good rate as well. Make sure that if you work with a booking or talent agency that they don’t inflate the fee to get comission for their services. You can always ask around or do your own research and contact the band you are interested in directly. Just make sure to hone your negotiation skills and to begin your search well in advance.
